Town Council
- Meeting Attendance: Attend all Town meetings on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month.
- Presidential Role: The President holds a position equal to the Town Executive.
- Governance: General powers are granted and regulated by the State of Indiana Code, and these powers are exercised through local ordinances.
- Legislative Function: The Council acts as the Legislative Branch.
- Financial Oversight: Authorize all financial matters.
- Ordinance Authority: Possess the authority and power to pass all ordinances, including:
- Rules and Regulations
- Fines and Fees
- Annexation: Approve and pass all annexations.
- Appointments: Appoint the Town Marshal and Town Manager.
- Planning Commission: Provide final approval on recommendations from the Planning Commission.
- Committee Appointments: Appoint members to various committees, including:
- Planning Commission
- Board of Zoning Appeals
- Redevelopment Commission
- Economic Development Committee
- External Engagement: Attend municipal conferences and meetings, and stay informed about the Hancock County Economic Development Commission.
- Residency Requirement: Must reside within the Town limits.
